The Power of Persistence In Life
Weathering the storm on your self-discovery journey
I wanted to take a step back and return to the topic of self-motivation for a minute; consider this as a continuation of that blog. Specifically, the part where we discussed the importance of determination and unwavering commitment, which are vital aspects of persistence as one of the key components of motivation.
As long as we are persistent in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time.

I would like to share insights on how persistence, from a millennial’s viewpoint, plays a key role in the journey of self-discovery.
In the journey of life, we all face storms. Can you agree? Moments of hardship, adversity, and uncertainty come to test our resolve.
Yet, within these turbulent times lies an invaluable trait that can turn the tide: Persistence.
Persistence: The quality or state of being persistent, meaning the continued or prolonged existence of something. It involves the tenacity or determination to continue an action, effort, or course of conduct despite difficulty, opposition, or failure.
The power of persistence is not merely about enduring through challenges but about harnessing an unwavering determination—with an act of faith—to achieve our goals despite the obstacles.
It is the grit to keep moving forward when the easiest option seems to be giving up, the strength to continue striving when results are not immediately visible, and the resilience to transform setbacks into stepping stones.
My Story of Being a Persistent Woman
I can attest to the power of persistence, of not giving up and persevering even when everything around me was crumbling. When I began my journey, I was well into my mid-30s, married, and had my firstborn son.
Finding myself in what could be described as a midlife crisis, I realized that my life and career choices had seemingly led to a dead end, leaving me without a job and clueless about my next steps. I began soul searching (spiritually).
However, a spark ignited within me as I participated in a mentorship program, which led me on my self-discovery journey.
My mentors taught me that embarking on the journey to become the best version of myself does not shield me from problems. Instead, it comes to test the authenticity of my self-discovery, including the vision I hold for my life.
This is why every opposition strengthens you rather than stops you. This may sound strange, but persistence makes you want to bear up against every resistance.
For me, that was the case. I had the desire deep in my core to push forward even when multiple challenges arose financially, leading to several setbacks in my growth process.
The plans and purpose I had in my mind grew bigger than the problems. So I kept keeping on, no matter what.
This isn’t meant to frighten you but to prepare you for your journey and shed some light on this path.
It’s not always greener on the other side; there are some challenges and obstacles you’ll need to overcome.
Yet, these very challenges, on a positive note, can help you grow stronger and more resilient.
My suggestion is: Embrace the difficulties, learn from them, and use them as stepping stones to reach your goals. Remember, the journey itself is as important as the destination, and every experience, good or bad, shapes who you become.
That being said, let’s take action right now to learn from them.
